I usually mix and match my closet pieces to come up with chic ensembles for most events. But for my husband's birthday last week I wanted a perfect sundress that would be an elusive mix of femininity, sophistication and effortlessness, so I could look and feel my best (without breaking the bank).
We all have unique styles and there is no such thing as perfect size/perfect body for a sundress. The key is to learn to love and accept your body as-is and then learn to style it with what works best. I love Banana Republic for always designing uber stylish dresses even for petite frames like mine. So picking that perfect sundress for the day was a no-brainer.
I indulged without guilt in this Banana Republic Pleated Dot Print Dress as it fit right into my budget and was perfect for the day. It was warmer than expected but the soft-airy fabric kept me cool and comfy-chic!
What I love about this dress is that it hits right above the knee making it perfect for most occasions. I already see myself wearing it for work, cocktail parties, summer picnics, brunches or even friends' weddings. The delicate ruffle placket right under the crew neck and the tiers on the skirt add flirty, feminine and romantic touches to the style. Discovering pockets in an already-wonderful dress is one of those "it's the little things" moments that causes an inordinate amount of joy. Sadly I did not relish a moment like that with this dress as there are no pockets :(. Regardless, I am still going to keep it.
I completely fell in love with these Wildfox Malibu oversize sunnies in rosewater color the moment I saw them at Nordstrom and I knew they would add bold elegance to the dress. In general I love oversized sunglasses, as they complement my face well, however it took me a lot of time and experimentation to find the right ones. Everyone! the secret to looking good in them, rather than looking “bug eyed”, is finding the right frames and lenses to compliment your style and face. (I am redirecting you to Wildfox website as this color is sold-out at Nordstrom)
I added a splash of red to my overall neutral ensemble with my favorite Tory Burch clutch (which is a season old) but you can find something similar here.
